Our kids use a lot of technology in our home- whether it’s a Kindle eReader, tablet or computers for playing, discussing and chatting. One thing we really try to keep in check is how much our children are producers vs. consumers when using technology. In other words, are they watching a lot and engaging in passive participation or are they being makers and creators?
So, This Project has begun due to many reasons:
- We were looking for materials on how to teach Computer Programming to children aged between 10 and 14 years
- We wanted to show our own children that it’s possible to do something more creative with computers than just watching YouTube videos or posting comments on Facebook
- We wanted to show the community that it’s possible to teach Java to children
- We wanted to show that all this can be done in a really fun way for the children
