Devoxx4Kids Foundation and UCLouvain are joining forces to open the door to computer science studies

We are proud to announce the signature of a letter of engagement between the Devoxx4Kids Foundation and UCLouvain, creating the “Bourses Devoxx4Kids“, a scholarship programme supporting students making the step from secondary school into a computer science bachelor at the École polytechnique de Louvain (EPL).

For the 2026–2027 academic year, the programme provides:

  • Scholarships awarded for the first year of the bachelor and renewable into the second on the basis of academic progress
  • Priority for students starting their programme on the Charleroi campus
  • Access to professional-grade refurbished laptops, subject to availability
  • Full access to UCLouvain’s existing academic and social support services

Candidates are identified and selected by UCLouvain, on the basis of files reviewed by its student support service. The Foundation provides the funding and never receives students’ personal data, a privacy-by-design principle we apply in every partnership.

Talent is evenly distributed. Opportunity is not. Europe’s Digital Decade target of at least 20 million employed ICT specialists by 2030 remains close to ten million short, and yet a graduate today can send dozens of applications without a reply, because employers increasingly want someone who contributes from day one. The scarcity is not one of diplomas. It is one of young people who had the means to build experience alongside their studies: the internship, the side project, the open-source contribution, the conference.

These are exactly what a student working evenings to pay for a room cannot afford in time.

That is the gap this partnership addresses, support through the first years of the bachelor, professional-grade equipment, and proximity to the Computer Science community that stands behind the Foundation.

Our sincere thanks to UCLouvain, the École polytechnique de Louvain and the Fondation Louvain for their trust and for the speed with which this was put together.

The agreement takes effect on 1 September 2026.
